Stallion of the South.

Eurostar are opening a new station at Ebbsfleet. Problem is hardly anybody knows where this ebbsfleet is! To place the town in Kent on the map an Angel of the South competition was launched with a 164 ft statue of a white horse being the successor.  The Stallion will be higher than any public artwork and will be placed on a site that could hold over 50 football pitches. It is hoped that the work will become as popular and well known as Anthony Gormley's 20m structure near Gateshead. Passengers arriving from Europe into Ebbsfleet will find it hard to miss as the countryside zips past through their train window. Apparently no person will be taller than one of it's hooves so that can help to paint a scale picture in your mind!
So why a giant white horse? Apparently the white horse is a symbol of Kent. Which derives from Anglo - Saxon times when people from Germany and Denmark came to live their. Thus suggesting that the sculpture refers to immigration and traveling. Which also fits in the the Eurostar connection to Europe and the EU.
