Users upload a good quality scanned image of a sampled typeface to the website www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ and in return the site will produce the typefaces name by identifying the typefaces glyphs and comparing it to a database. The site apparently has a very high success rate but if in some rare cases the typeface cannot be identified What The Font also provide a What The Font forum where users can upload the typeface and ask other typeface enthusiasts to help identify it.
